Hydrovac Operator – Wireline – Alberta

Location: Spruce Grove, Alberta

WesTower Communications Ltd. is currently seeking an experienced Hydrovac Operator to join our Wireline operations team in Spruce Grove, Alberta.

The Hydrovac Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of hydrovac equipment in a utility construction environment. The successful candidate must be comfortable working independently, travelling as required, and assisting with general labour duties when hydrovac work is not required.

Job Responsibilities:

• Safely and efficiently operate hydrovac equipment for utility excavation.
• Follow all company safety procedures and identify potential workplace hazards.
• Handle slurry and spoils in accordance with applicable regulations and procedures.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and report any maintenance or safety concerns.
• Safely pull and back up trailers as required.
• Work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
• Assist with general labour duties when hydrovac work is not required.
• Maintain professional relationships with co-workers, customers, and the public.
• Travel as required to support operations.

Qualifications:

• Valid Alberta Class 3 driver’s licence required; Class 1 preferred.
• Ground Disturbance Level II certification.
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Hydrovac Operator in a utility construction environment.
• Strong commitment to safety and dependable work habits.
• Comfortable working outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions.
• Physically fit and capable of performing demanding manual work.
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
• Experience pulling and backing up trailers.
• Strong communication skills and a positive team-oriented attitude.

Work Conditions:

• Frequent standing, walking, sitting, climbing, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and occasionally more than 100 lbs.
• Outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
• Travel may be required.
