Labourer – Wireline – Alberta

Location: Spruce Grove, Alberta

WesTower Communications Ltd. is currently seeking a Labourer to join our Wireline construction team in Spruce Grove, Alberta.

This is an entry-level position involving hands-on work in underground utility construction. The Labourer supports HDD, backend, and cable placement crews with construction activities including digging, pulling, landscaping, material handling, and site clean-up.

Job Responsibilities:

• Support the construction of buried facilities as part of HDD, backend, and cable placement crews.
• Complete daily tasks as assigned by the Foreperson or Construction Manager.
• Assist with digging, pulling, landscaping, moving materials, and other construction activities.
• Maintain awareness of site safety and identify unsafe working conditions.
• Maintain company equipment in accordance with service requirements and safety guidelines.
• Complete required documentation, equipment logs, and FLHAs accurately and on time.
• Maintain a clean and organized worksite and assist with construction clean-up.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

• Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s licence with a clean driver’s abstract and own vehicle.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous experience in underground utility construction with an understanding of utility depths and placement standards.
• General knowledge of construction practices.
• Ability to drive trucks and trailers as required.
• Mechanically inclined.
• Physically fit and able to bend, kneel, climb, and lift up to 75 lbs.
• Strong work ethic.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.

Work Conditions:

• Work in various environments with moderate to loud noise levels.
• Work may include excavations, manholes, and tunnels.
• Extended periods of sitting, standing, stooping, crouching, reaching, and lifting.
• Overtime may be required.
• Ability to work in various locations in Western Canada.
