Our team is growing, and we are seeking a CNC Applications Engineer, Advanced Machining Specialist to operate our newest 5 axis universal, CNC mill/turn machining centre. This is an opportunity for an experienced machinist to step into a high-impact role that requires deep technical knowledge, hands-on machining experience, and strong problem-solving skills.

About the Role

As Application Engineer, Advanced Machining Specialist, you’ll support growing demand for precision machined components by providing advanced CNC milling and turning expertise. This includes 5-axis mill/turn programming and machine operation, with a focus on optimizing both attended and unattended production to maximize efficiency. Specifically, you’ll operate two DMG, DMC 65 FD universal machining centres with 6 and 9 station pallet pools.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Create and refine 5 axis mill/turn programs.
  • Set up and prepare machines by choosing and loading tools, determining workholding solutions, setting offsets, and performing verifications.
  • Manage pallet pools to ensure maximum unattended operation time.
  • Optimize the machining process by finding ways to reduce cycle times, improve finishes, and extend tool life.
  • Track material certification throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Program in-process inspection and ensure all inspection documentation is complete and managed correctly.
  • Troubleshoot machining and automation issues quickly to minimize downtime and maintain production continuity.
  • Manage tool life data and change tools/inserts when required.
  • Develop application specific solutions in collaboration with other staff members to solve complex machining challenges.
  • Support estimation staff by providing accurate cycle times to be used for quoting purposes.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Machining, Toolmaking, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of advanced CNC programming and machining experience, including 5-axis mill/turn machining.
  • Strong CAD/CAM skills, advanced knowledge of GD&T, inspection tools, and machining processes.
  • Experience with Autodesk Fusion and Siemens controls.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in time management, organization, and critical thinking.
