Service Technician

Komcan Inc., the exclusive authorized Canadian dealer for Komori equipment, is seeking an experienced Service Technician to support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of advanced industrial printing presses and finishing equipment.

Based in Georgetown, Ontario, Komcan Inc. sells a leading-edge Komori printing press and parts and provides technical field service support to commercial printing clients across Canada.

This role involves hands-on work with complex printing presses in a fast-paced field service environment, including installation and commissioning of new and used equipment and ongoing maintenance at customer sites.

Responsibilities

·         Install, assemble, and commission Komori printing presses and related industrial production equipment at customer sites.

·         Install, set-up, and service MBO Group folding and finishing systems, ensuring proper integration with press operations.

·         Perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electromechanical systems on industrial printing and finishing machinery.

·         Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance and emergency service repairs at customer facilities to ensure optimal equipment performance and minimal downtime.

·         Install and commission used or relocated printing and finishing equipment, including alignment, calibration, and operational testing.

·         Liaise with customer production personnel and management to provide technical support, resolve operational issues, and maintain strong client relationships.

·         Complete detailed service reports, maintenance records, and other required documentation for all field service work in accordance with company procedures.

·         Perform other related duties, including equipment adjustments, upgrades, and technical support tasks, as required and assigned.

·         All duties will be performed in English.

Required Experience and Qualifications

·         As the Service Technician will work independently on-site, candidates must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience installing, maintaining, and repairing Komori GL series presses, or comparable printing presses and industrial finishing equipment of similar engineering and build.

·         Strong understanding of the commercial printing industry and industrial production equipment environments.

·         Experience working with industrial folding and finishing equipment, including systems manufactured by MBO or equivalent.

·         Ability to install, troubleshoot, and service complex mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electromechanical systems on industrial printing and finishing equipment.

·         Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.

·         Field service experience performing mechanical installation, commissioning, diagnostics, and repair of industrial printing presses and production equipment at customer sites.

·         Experience in customer-facing technical service roles, including interaction with production staff and management.

·         Willingness and ability to travel within Canada and the United States as required.

·         Experience with Komori press demonstration, setup, or training is considered a strong asset.

·         Experience with Komori Currency Press products or equivalent.

·         Valid driver’s license is required as travel to customer sites is an essential component of the role.

Terms of Employment

This is a full-time, permanent position based out of our facility located at 55 Sinclair Avenue, Unit 9, Georgetown, Ontario, L7G 4X4. Physical presence at customer and client sites is required approximately 85% of the time, primarily within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), with occasional travel required within Canada and/or the United States. When not on site, they will work at our shop performing tasks and repairs for upcoming jobs.

The position is scheduled for 40-hours per week (8 hours per day), Monday to Friday. Daily shifts will fall between 7:00am and 4:00pm., based on operational and client needs.

The hourly wage offered is CAD$40 to $45 per hour, depending on experience level. Travel expenses covered for out-of-town jobs, and company vehicle provided.
