Red Seal Automotive Mechanic

Billy’s Auto Service is looking for a Red Seal Automotive Mechanic to join our team!

• This is a full-time position at our shop in Salmo, BC.
• This role is intended for a Red Seal Mechanic. 3rd or 4th year apprentices may be considered.
• Relocation assistance may be available for the right candidate.

The Red Seal Automotive Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing passenger vehicles and light-duty trucks. This role requires strong technical expertise across automotive mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems, along with effective troubleshooting skills to ensure vehicles operate safely, reliably, and efficiently. The position plays a key role in maintaining high standards of workmanship and customer safety. Work includes preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis, repairs, and compliance with manufacturer specifications and applicable safety standards. Attention to detail, sound judgment, and a commitment to quality workmanship are essential.

Responsibilities Include:
• Inspect, diagnose, and repair automotive systems, including engines, drivetrains, brakes, suspension, steering, heating and cooling, and electrical and electronic systems.
• Perform routine and preventative maintenance, including inspections, fluid services, filter replacements, and scheduled servicing.
• Accurately diagnose vehicle issues using appropriate diagnostic tools, equipment, and software.
• Complete repairs and replacements in accordance with manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
• Identify root causes of mechanical or system failures and implement effective repair solutions to minimize repeat issues.
• Follow all workplace safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Accurately complete work orders, inspections, parts usage records, and related documentation.
• Communicate clearly with team members regarding vehicle condition, required repairs, and safety concerns.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
• Red Seal Automotive Service Technician certification required.
• Completion of a recognized Automotive Service Technician apprenticeship program.
• Proven experience servicing and repairing passenger vehicles and light-duty trucks.
• Strong knowledge of automotive mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
• Proficiency with automotive diagnostic tools, scanners, hand tools, and power tools.
• Experience with shop management or diagnostic software is an asset, with a willingness to learn new systems required.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Physical ability to perform manual labour and work in a shop environment.
• Commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.

Pay Rate: $35-45 per hour
