This position is responsible for assembling quality products and kits.
REQUIREMENTS/QUAILIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Basic computer skills.
- Preferred: Six (6) + months of warehouse experience and/or product assembly experience.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks & multitask with a high level of attention to detail.
- Excellent mathematical, counting, and spatial recognition skills.
- Must be able to read and understand drawings and work orders.
- Must have knowledge of operation and maintenance of equipment and hand tools as required in the work center.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
- Must be able to be certified as a FORKLIFT OPERATOR and OVERHEAD CRANE OPERATOR.
- Must be willing to work in other departments on a temporary basis as assigned by the manager.
- Must be available to work all shifts – days, afternoons, midnights (Mandatory).
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Count parts to determine if product orders are complete. (quantity and part number)
- Examine products to verify quality, visual defects identification (such as scratches, dents, rust), and other kitting requirements.
- Ability to use go/no-go jigs.
- Pick product for assembly and load in/on pallets or Kanban bins as determined by the kit pick sheets.
- Lift materials, finished products, and packed items, manually or by forklifts.
- Manually or mechanically move parts from pallets, skids, racks, carts, etc., or other transport equipment as required based on weight.
- Ability to fill out magnet tags, and place on welding board.
- Communicate problems and/or non-conformances to the manager or appropriate people.
- Identify and communicate all shortages/discrepancies to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Use tools, equipment and technology, manufacturing/operations equipment, computers and computerized or automated systems.
- Ensure and maintain procedure and specification requirements.
- Ensure and maintain Carte’s quality standards and procedures.
- Ensure that the company safety rules and regulations are maintained.
- Maintain work area(s) in a safe, clean and orderly fashion.
SKILLS:
- Previous knowledge and experience with 5S and Lean Manufacturing is considered an asset.
- Ability to achieve and maintain required productivity levels in a dynamic and challenging environment by effectively organizing, prioritizing, and executing tasks.
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
- Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Good communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Capable of performing physical job requirements with ability to lift to 50 lbs. and consistently reach, bend, sit, stand and climb.
- Reliable, punctual, and positive team-player who is adaptable, open-minded, enthusiastic, and takes initiative.
- Previous knowledge and experience with 5S and Lean Manufacturing is considered an asset.
