Job Summary

The Landscape Construction Operations Manager oversees the daily operations of the construction department, ensuring that all landscape construction projects are delivered on time, on budget, safely, and at Creative Roots’ quality standards.

This position is responsible for coordinating multiple project teams, managing scheduling and logistics, supervising Project Managers and Foremen, and monitoring project performance. The Landscape Construction Operations Manager plays a key leadership role in communication, quality assurance, cost control, and team development.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

●     Plan, organize, direct, and evaluate the daily operations of landscape construction projects from start to completion.

●     Oversee project scheduling, job sequencing, and crew assignments to ensure optimal workflow and resource utilization.

●     Supervise and coordinate the activities of Project Managers, Foremen, and field employees to meet quality, budget, and safety targets.

●     Monitor labour hours, materials, and project costs to ensure adherence to estimates and company standards.

●     Conduct weekly construction production meetings and job reviews to assess progress and resolve operational challenges.

●     Review and interpret landscaping plans, drawings, and specifications for accuracy and buildability.

●     Ensure that all work complies with health and safety regulations, including WorkSafeBC standards and company safety policies.

●     Provide on-site leadership and technical guidance to ensure jobs are completed to the required quality standards.

●     Develop and maintain construction schedules and ensure schedule accuracy (≥ 90% target).

●     Evaluate crew performance, monitor efficiency, and implement corrective actions to achieve weekly crew efficiency ≥ 85%.

●     Inspect completed projects for quality control and adherence to design and specifications.

●     Coordinate with the Construction Manager on forecasting, staffing, and resource planning.

●     Assist in estimating, procurement, and budgeting for construction projects as required.

●     Lead communication between field staff, office personnel, and clients to ensure clarity and consistency.

●     Train and mentor team members in company procedures, safety standards, and quality expectations.

●     Maintain accurate records, reports, and job documentation, including progress and cost tracking reports.

●     Plan and oversee snow and ice management operations during the winter season as required.

Key Deliverables

●     Projects delivered on time, on budget, and to company quality standards.

●     Weekly crew efficiency of 85% or higher.

●     Schedule accuracy of 90% or higher.

●     Safety compliance with zero lost-time incidents.

Employment Requirements

●     Completion of secondary school is required.

●     Post-secondary education in construction management, landscape horticulture, or a related field is an asset.

●     Minimum 5 years of experience in landscape construction management, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or operations leadership role.

●     Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.

●     Strong knowledge of landscape construction practices, materials, and equipment.

●     Ability to read and interpret landscape drawings and specifications.

●     Proficiency in scheduling, job costing, and project management software (e.g., LMN, Excel, or equivalent).

●     Valid BC Driver’s License.

●     First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain.

●     Knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations and safety protocols.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

●     Work is primarily in Kelowna and surrounding areas.

●     Combination of office and fieldwork environments.

●     Regularly required to visit and inspect active job sites.

●     May require standing, walking, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.

●     Overtime may be required to meet project deadlines.
