Job Description

Overview: The successful candidate will show a good understanding of concrete shoring and falsework. Being familiar with common formwork systems such as DOKA, PERI, ALUMA, MEVA and ULMA will be an asset. Familiarity to the sequence of these systems or similar systems will be needed. Being able to use common hand tools and measure accurately will be critical. The successful candidate will be required to form foundations, concrete columns, walls and elevator/stair shafts and suspended slabs. They also will be involved with the removal of formwork for these same items. The majority of the work will be done with use of tower crane or other hoisting equipment. Experience in concrete placing and concrete finishing will be considered an asset.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Being able to recognize safety hazards and to understand instructions for safe work practises
  • Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements
  • Ensure compliance to drawings and specifications
  • Prepare, measure and mark surfaces to be covered
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
  • Erect forms for foundations, columns, walls, elevator shafts, stair shafts and suspended slabs for purpose of concrete placement
  • Pre fabricating formwork to be used on repetitive basis
  • Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites
  • Instruct apprentices
  • Supervise other workers (based on experience level)
  • Work can be but not limited to industrial, institutional, commercial and residential buildings
  • Operate woodworking machines, such as power saws, jointers, mortisers and shapers, to cut, shape and form parts and components
  • Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
  • Personal transportation
