The position is responsible for providing technical support to activities within the faculty and related technical areas within the faculty and related technical areas. Services include: Demonstration of equipment and techniques to shop users. design, construction, modification, repair, testing and installation of various equipment and instruments required for teaching and research purposes in a cost-recovery environment. To act as a resource to shop users including graduate and undergraduate students and oversee students' activities within the Shop to ensure adherence to operating procedures and health and safety protocols.
To be considered for this opportunity, you will bring the following:
Education:
· Post-secondary/community college diploma in a related field such as Mechanical Techniques Certified Tool and Die Making, Mechanical Engineering Technician. Certified Tool and Die Making is required.
Experience:
· Minimum 5 years of related experience - mechanical/electro-mechanical design and fabrication.
· Experience designing, constructing, modifying, repairing, testing and installing various complex apparatus.
· Experience in fabrication of teaching and/or research apparatus preferred.
