POSITION SUMMARY:
As a Production Manager you will manage a group of production employees and lead them in meeting their targets. Production Managers play an integral role in our growth as they are responsible for the training and development of our production staff as well as the continuous improvement of our operations. All of these factors are essential in meeting our customers expectations and delivering our quality products within scope and on time.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
OPERATIONAL
- Plan, organize, schedule, and maintain the activities of the department to meet daily, weekly, and monthly targets;
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of the work process within your department and ensure that all personnel are completing the task in accordance with best practices and in a timely manner.
- Utilize the necessary tools to collect and record the proper information for measuring productivity and quality-related issues (updating and maintaining production visual boards).
- Manage a team of production employees to ensure the department meets its targets. Ensure corrective actions are taken when necessary.
- Ensure all employees are trained to complete tasks on hand and to cross train employees to minimize or eliminate potential bottlenecks.
- Monitor production team performance and identify opportunities for improvement. Where process deficiencies exist, provide leadership in terms of generating solutions for the identified deficiency.
- Be the catalyst for production-oriented improvement initiatives and consistently seek out ways to improve production operations.
- Review all non-conformances generated in the area of responsibility. Participate in the development and implementation of corrective action. Complete non-conformances ensuring that the solution is sufficient, sustainable, and fully implemented within the production department.
- Communicate any engineering or drafting problems in a timely and efficient manner to resolve issues.
- Support and promote all aspects of the Carte Quality and Continuous Improvement program.
- Assist operators with technical problems or, when absolutely required, get involved with production.
- Participate in training programs recommended by the Manufacturing Manager and VP of Manufacturing.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
HUMAN RESOURCES:
- Promote positive departmental environment.
- Lead in the evaluation of team performance. Provide coaching to individual team members. Identify individual performance gaps and create and execute plans for improvement.
- Ensure the performance of production teams is aligned with corporate objectives, specifically those surrounding safety, quality and productivity.
- Conduct and document regular team meetings to discuss department performance, review new or modified procedures and policies, and present safety talks.
- Participate in selection process, performance review, discipline, and training of production staff.
- Conduct and/or oversee all on the job training of new or existing employees.
Assist in the development of succession planning for replacement of key employees.
- Promote teamwork within and across the departments.
HEALTH AND SAFETY:
- Ensure safety policies and operating practices are implemented and followed.
- Maintain working knowledge of all Health & Safety policies and promote all aspects of the corporate Health & Safety program.
- Perform regular workplace inspections, both scheduled and unscheduled.
- Conduct regular safety talks with employees.
- Report all accidents/incidents promptly, participate in investigations and act on recommendations.
- Comply with all Carte’s safety programs, confidentiality, and legal requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 5 years experience from a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 2 years of managerial experience, such as customer service and project management.
