CNC Weekend Shift Operator

PRODUCTION

A) Check network to see if all necessary files are ready for the job

B) Create CNC tool path programs and perform collision check

C) Set block to coordinates as per program or per drawings

D) Execute programs, observe operation and correct any errors or report problems/errors to supervisor/designer

E) Check completed program and check dimensions

F) Complete CNC portion of specification sheet and prepare for next job

G) Additionally, cutting requirements should be conveyed to supervisor

H) Must be able to perform certain cross functional tasks within the department

I) Complete assigned task through machining and/or assembly to specifications or instructions

J) Ensure your work area is safe and clean at all times, and operate CNC in a safe manner

QUALITY

A) A CNC Operator/Machinist has the responsibility for ensuring their finished products meet established quality assurance specifications

B) Ensure you inform your Team Leader of any quality concerns

COMMUNICATION

A) Ensure there are no quality interruptions or errors due to your lack of giving or seeking information
Recommend and participate, when possible, with Team Leaders in discussions

Required Qualifications/Skills:

• Two (2) years plus CNC Machining experience and/or certificate
• Experience with programming CAD/CAM software and 3D machining. WorkNC experience is an asset
• Able to operate basic tool room machines such as band-saws, mills, lathe, surface grinders, drill presses and other machineries associated with the trade in a safe and efficient manner
• Must be able to handle and operate all hand, pneumatic and other tools associated with the trade in a safe and efficient manner
• Is in possession of the basic tools needed to complete the assigned job (i.e. measuring tools, hand tools, optional power/pneumatic tools) or is willing to acquire the necessary tools within a reasonable time period
• Proactive in making recommendations for improvements to processes and procedures
• Knowledge of reading 2D drawings and machining symbols
• Detailed knowledge of choosing proper parameters of machines and materials
• Flexible schedule to accommodate shift work, if required
• Assembly knowledge of blow and injection moulding, deflashing units, fixture equipment etc., is an asset
• Must be able to perform setups and setups requiring the use of tooling balls as a datum point. Complex and compound angle setups are an asset.
