The Role

We are looking to recruit an ambitious, execution-focused individual in a dynamic role as a Logistics Planner in Toronto. As a Logistics Planner, you plan last mile shipments across Canada and manage 3PL and internal partners to ensure cost and quality targets are met on an ongoing basis.

The Logistics Planner is responsible for all line hauls and last mile logistics planning from order placement to pickup. When issues arise, they are responsible for following up with 3PLs and internal partners to ensure issues are rectified, and do analysis on changes required to build the optimal last mile network at Goodfood.

Position – Areas of Responsibility

  • Review customer orders to ensure they are assigned to the correct facility/carrier and flag order issues to the customer service team
  • Support the management of line haul and last mile 3PL relationships for all Goodfood orders nationally, including confirming expected invoicing to carriers
  • Support the operations team on troubleshooting shipping label printing and work with IT to improve integration with third party systems as necessary
  • Book linehauls for each facility and ensure trucks are on schedule for their designated pickup times
  • Investigate specific customer issues and implement process improvements to resolve them
  • Identify process improvements in collaboration with internal partners and manage the implementation of these initiatives
  • Confirm holiday closures with carriers/operational partners, determine best way to move orders, and communicate plan to cross-functional partners
  • Execute on continuous improvement projects (developed by the Logistics Manager) to drive efficiencies, best practices, and cost savings across the delivery network
  • Work cross-functionally with internal teams to minimize disruptions to planned operations

Basic Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree (any discipline) or Diploma (logistics focused)
  • 3+ years work experience, 1+ years direct experience in a manufacturing, production, planning, distribution or logistics environment. Last mile experience is considered an asset.
  • Comfortable in Excel (or any other tool) and in working with IT to problem solve integrations – You have a proven ability to navigate spreadsheets and existing tools; new technology excites you!
  • A natural communicator – You can explain information and processes to a variety of audiences written and verbally
  • Ability to prioritize effectively, multitask and easily manage stress
