Our Thunder Bay location in Ontario, Canada is currently seeking talent to fill the position of Forestry Technical Superintendent, Ontario Woodlands. This job is permanent, full-time.

Technical Superintendent, Ontario Woodlands

Resolute Forest Products is seeking candidates for the position of Technical Superintendent for our Northwestern Ontario Woodlands Operations. This position is responsible to lead the development and deployment of technical solutions and continuous improvement initiatives related to the planning, production & delivery of forest products.

Your Challenges:

• Superintendent of information technology platforms and applications development including planning and operations tools (OBCs, GIS, Lidar, drones, tablets etc.) through the coordination of internal and external resources.
• Work with all levels of the woodlands organization to understand business challenges, opportunities and priorities
• Develop and manage an annual and longer-term programs, budgets and project plans
• Increase the efficiency of Ontario woodlands by supporting forestry and operations staff in continuous improvement, technology implementation and change implementation;
• Lead communications and collaborations with external organizations, industry peers, contractors and suppliers involved in technology development and utilization.
• Coordinate internal and external resources in the execution of training programs for staff and contractors.
• Research evolving and emerging technologies that apply to woodland operations and foresee potential benefits

Your team:

• Reporting to the Forestry Manager, you will be part of a results-oriented team whose members are encouraged to exceed expectations.

Your profile:

• 10 or more years relevant experience years; ideally in a variety of forestry, forest operations and forest engineering related fields;
• degree in forestry, engineering or information technology
• demonstrated project management, leadership and execution of results

Your assets and skills

• The ideal candidate will possess a demonstrated interest and  drive for continuous improvement through technology deployment and innovations
• Ability to lead teams in the design, development and deployment of projects
• Ability to work independently in the management and execution of role accountabilities
• Excellent project and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Excellent computer skills, including demonstrated experience in established and emerging technologies used in forestry and forest operations
• A thorough understanding of enterprise GIS systems, data integration and data management best practices
• Solid analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to quickly make sound decisions based on experience and judgment
• Capacity to influence the team and the contractors to engage and work collegially to achieve business objectives
• Change management, coaching and mentoring skills
